Sometimes it just feels like that kind of night. You know the kind of night where everyone wants a giant bottle of beer to chill on — especially with higher alcohol content. They might not taste the best, but for around $2 it’s hard to beat an ice-cold 40 ounce. Head out to your local corner store, load up a box full of them, and get ready for another quality night of Edward Fortyhands.

Steel Reserve 211 High Gravity – A vicious malt beverage brewed exclusively by the Steel Brewing Company in California, which ranges in alcohol content from 6% up to 8.9%. Although these guys were acquired by Miller, it hasn’t affected the surprisingly drinkable taste of Steel Reserve. It’s tough to beat a 40 which is so easy to find and consume.

Olde English 800 – The most common and popular extra-large beer delivers with equally large taste and alcohol content — although it might not be the most pleasant experience. Weighing in at 7.5% alcohol, with a sharp biting taste, this is one American malt liquor you won’t soon forget. Or maybe you will.

Colt 45 – While there are a number of varieties of Pabst’s infamous brew, the original still remains the best. Available nearly anywhere cheap alcohol is sold, Colt 45 is a great go-to 40 ounce for a wild night of swilling some bitter, carbonated beer. Oh and for talking about Afroman’s greatest hits.

Hurricane High Gravity Lager – We’re not sure if this should really be dubbed a “lager,” but Anheuser-Busch’s 40 ounce is a beast of a drink. At a respectable 8.1% alcohol, Hurricane even garners halfway decent reviews from craft beer sites such as Beer Advocate.

Mickey’s – Commonly seen as a sponsor during UFC bouts, Mickey’s malt beverage is a surprisingly well done beer from Miller. The lighter alcohol content (5.6%) doesn’t sting quite as much, but still delivers a buzzing wake-up call after downing 40 ounces worth.
