So we got our flyers today. Shouts to Sergio at Versa Printing. One more set and he joins Cosigned! The flyers were dope but it seems they went with their own direction. Thats what i get for not being the decision man on the flyers. When you leave shit to other people mistakes may happen. Its not a biggie, but I distinctly asked that Kid Cudi and Asher Roth’s names be in small letters, along with Pac Division and BOB. Turns out nobody would look at the flyer if it wasn’t for Kid Cudi’s name on it unless I explained the club. Turns out not everybody in Dallas knows who Kid Cudi is so I have to explain the club’s ambiance as the major draw point. Now this isn’t the whole city, just the parking lots of two North Dallas clubs on Black Night. I was about to get pissed about the whole thing until I started asking the non Cudis where they from. Most said South Dallas or Oak Cliff. It makes sense. They listen to Stanky Leg and Darrough more than Cudi or Roth. But it does let me know that even though we have the nightclub to die for and are tying it into a good cause, its a lot more to this promotional shit. If you want to build something, you’re gonna have to lay a foundation. I’m looking for that foundation right now. Tommorrow I’ll be searching for frames and wood beams that will support the house, but for now, its all about the foundation. I hope the artists aren’t mad if they’re name is used in this fashion. I am not promoting it as “The Official” afterparty and when people ask if I paid $10,000 or $20,000 for Cudi, i tell them that Cudi isn’t contracted to make an appearance. If that turns them off, fine. But the last thing I want is for Cudi or the Div’s people to think we are laying shitty foundation here. I spent weeks going back and forth with TJ Chapman over BOB’s appearance just to learn that HOB doesn’t want us to have his name in any contract. For now my foundation is the nightclub, Buddha 9 (www.buddha9dallas.com), my hard working partners, Bryan Walker and Bishop, and our friend who wants to help our charitable event DJ Sean G, who we owe the world to right now.
